The history of the department dates back to the 1960s. In 1960, the Department of General Electrical Engineering and Automation was established at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the then University of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. It was gradually transformed into the Department of Automation and Control and later into the Department of Technical Cybernetics. After establishing the University of West Bohemia and the Faculty of Applied Sciences, the Department of Cybernetics and Robotics appeared, and from 1992 we definitively worked and taught under the Department of Cybernetics.
